Here’s a deluge of Smash Bros. for Wii U info direct from Nintendo

Nintendo held its 50 must-see things in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Direct this morning and so now we have a huge amount of new info for you.

We’re going to do it in the patented ‘Steve Fact’ style from the Friendly Fire Show and if you want all the nitty gritty details check out the Direct we’ve embedded below.

Nintendo has confirmed Smash for Wii U will include an 8-player mode. It will support local play only and will only be playable on larger, special stages. Amiibo figurines can be used as ‘Figure Players’ and when a player uses them the amiibo will level up. Any equipment and experience earned is stored on the figurine and can be used at a friend’s house.

Online multiplayer has been tweaked and allows local team-ups. Players can play ‘With Anyone’ and will be able to create custom tournaments. Nintendo will also host official tournaments. Players can voice chat before and after battle via the GamePad. Players will be able to create their own stages via the GamePad’s touch screen and share them online.

Smash Bros. for Wii U can be controlled using the GamePad, Wiimotes, Gamecube controller (with the adapter), 3DS, 2DS and Wii U Pro Controller. Those who’ve created custom fighters on 3DS can import them into the Wii U version. By purchasing both versions — 3DS and Wii U — players will be gifted a two-disc soundtrack for both games and Mewtwo, who’ll join the roster Autumn 2015.

Brand new modes will be introduced including Smash Tour (a board game style mode). Other modes include Classic, All-Star, Coin Battle and more.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be available 6 December.
