Harmonix restructure puts 37 out of a job

Harmonix has announced that it is undergoing a restructure which has resulted in 37 staff losing their full-time positions.

Harmonix was recently successful in funding Amplitude through Kickstarter and are currently working on Disney Fantasia: Music Evolved. An Harmonix spokesperson told Joystiq, “Harmonix is in the process of restructuring our organization to bring it into alignment with our current and future product development plans. Unfortunately, this means making the difficult decision to reduce the number of full-time staff.”

Both Amplitude and Fantasia are said to be unaffected by the restructure while current CEO Alex Rigopulos will become Chief Creative Officer and Steve Janiak, former Publishing and Business Operations Manager will take on the role of CEO.

Harmonix employees were vocal in their disappointment at Microsoft’s decision to unbundle Kinect from the Xbox One, but the restructure is apparently not in response.
