G2A accepts TinyBuild’s key reselling reform challenge, promises statement later today

Key reseller G2A has said it accepts TinyBuild’s key reselling reform “challenge” and promises an “important statement” later today.

The saga of TinyBuild and G2A has been going back and forth for a while now. TinyBuild initially alleged G2A assisted in the fraudulent sale of $450,000 USD of its game keys, with G2A replying that all sales were legitimate. G2A then challenged TinyBuild to prove the keys were stolen.

Not outdone, TinyBuild then sent back a challenge of its own, asking for reform in the marketplace. From a press statement, TinyBuild asked for the following:

  1. Allow publishers to set a minimum price for the distributed products
  2. Set a minimum cut for all 3rd party sales of said keys (these would come out of merchants’ cut)
  3. Actually verify your merchants. I just made an account and within an hour was able to sell a ton of keys, no verification whatsoever. If Ebay allowed you to sell merchandise without verifying sellers’ credentials (they ask you for IDs, statements confirming addresses, tie it to your bank account, etc), they’d probably under similar fire right now as they’d facilitate stolen goods trade.Instead, they’re demanding lists of keys within 3 days or else (what?).

“We accept the tinyBuild challenge,” G2A said in a press release that linked to this site. We obviously don’t know as yet if the key reseller will adopt the suggestions above, but they’re surely planning something.

We’ll keep you in the loop.
