Fortnite on Switch update adds resolution boost, consistent framerate

Nice if you're going handheld.

Fortnite on Switch has been given a boost in terms of both resolution and framerate consistency, Epic Games has today confirmed.

The update is available now and improves game performance in both docked and handheld modes.

First, the resolution of the game has been increased in both modes, jumping from 1000×560 to 1170×660 in handheld mode — a 38% increase — and from 1390×780 to 1560×880 in docked mode.

The update to resolution means offers up “images that are less blurry, without loss of performance,” Epic said. “The update also provides a more consistent framerate, with fewer hitches, resulting in a smoother experience overall.”

The update also frees up 140MB of valuable storage space in the process.

Fortnite is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5.
