FFXIV Shadowbringers‘ new job, the Gunbreaker, was today detailed by Producer Naoki Yoshida at the FFXIV Fan Festival.
The role is that of a Tank, the fourth in the game after the Paladin, Warrior and Dark Knight. Gunbreakers will wield the Gunblade as their main arm; while different from other iterations of the weapon, FFXIV‘s Gunblade is mirrored on that of Final Fantasy VIII. In fact, the Gunblade used by FFVII‘s Squall will be offered as a pre-order item.
FFXIV‘s Gunblade doesn’t fire projectiles but instead deals slash damage through magicked ammunition. Said ammo will also be used to execute special abilities.
There’s no associated class with the Gunblade job and players can use the job at level 60. The Shadowbringers expansion is required; players can take up the new job by starting the job quest found in Gridania.
Final Fantasy XIV Shadowbringers heads to Windows PC and PS4 from 2 July 2019.
