FFXIV Online update adds Monster Hunter World crossover

Final Fantasy XIV Online update adds special Monster Hunter World content, Square Enix and Capcom have advised.

“This latest update brings the mighty dragon, Rathalos, from Capcom’s hit title to the world of Final Fantasy XIV,” Square Enix advised. “Players can challenge this fearsome foe in either Normal or Extreme difficulty for numerous in-game rewards.”

Those who are Level 70 and above who have also completed the Stormblood main scenario quest can immediately play “The New King on the Block” to square off against Rathalos. The quest is an eight-player battle that uses mechanics from Monster Hunter: World.

Competing the quest earns players the following themed rewards:

  • Rathalos Armor Set – armor sets inspired by Rathalos
  • New Minions – Poogie and Palico
  • New Mount – Ride Rathalos, the “King of the Skies,” throughout Hydaelyn
  • New Furnishings – BBQ Spit

The update, called Patch 4.36, “also introduces the next chapter in The Forbidden Land Eureka series: The Pagos Expedition,” Square Enix continued. “Players will now be able to explore an all-new area, further strengthen their Eureka weapons, and obtain additional rewards such as minions.”

Final Fantasy XIV Online is currently available on Windows PC, Mac and PS4. Monster Hunter: World is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
