Females in the video game industry make 14% less than male colleagues

Gamasutra’s 2014 game developer salary survey has found that women in the USA video game industry made 86 cents for every dollar earned by a male colleague in 2013.

Excluding students and educators, men in the games industry averaged a $85,074 USD salary compared to women at $72,882 for 2013. Overall, salaries decreased 2% across the board compared to 2012.

Women earned more than men in one solitary profession, quality assurance, where the average female salary was the average salary was $56,786 USD, compared to the male average of $54,576 USD.

In other professions within the industry, the gap between the female and male average salary was anywhere from 6% (design) to 31.5% (audio).
