Fortnite tournament to take place at the NRL Grand Final

A special Fornite tournament will feature its Grand Final at the 2019 NRL Telstra Premiership Grand Final thanks to a collaboration between the NRL and LetsPlay.Live.

The LPL X NRL League Royale Featuring Fortnite — say that ten times fast — will offer up a $18,000 AUD total prize pool and will provide the tournament’s top five players the chance to play live for the championship crown at the ANZ Stadium on 6 October, coinciding with the NRL Grand Final itself.

“Open Solos Qualifiers will run over two days: 21 and 22 September 2019 – with the top 40 players each day advancing to the Finals,” the tournament’s registration page states. “Of these top players, the top 5 overall will be flown to the NRL Grand Final in Sydney, Australia, to compete LIVE on stage alongside some of the biggest NRL stars! The match will be broadcast live online as well as directly into ANZ Stadium – this is your chance to see your name up in lights.”

“We continue to develop and evolve our Grand Final week and this esports activation will add to the fan experience at NRL Fan Fest and on Grand Final day,” said Andrew Abdo, Chief Commercial Officer of the NRL. “Giving our fans the opportunity to play in front of ANZ Stadium, to be broadcast across Twitch, the NRL network and on the stadium big screens and to play for prizes that include our incredible behind the scenes experiences at Origin in Adelaide next year is an opportunity not to be missed.”

Good luck to those competing.

Fortnite is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, PS4, Switch, iOS and Android devices.
