Citadel Spy Challenge pits ANZ’s best duos against each other

Brought to you by Prime Video’s Citadel, streaming now.

Eight of ANZ’s top Call of Duty streamers have partnered up to take on one another in a frenzied spy thriller that celebrates the launch of Prime Video’s new series, Citadel.

The Citadel: Spy Challenge event has already kicked off with all four teams tackling challenges inside Call of Duty’s DMZ mode that represent the action found within Citadel’s first two episodes.

Round one required teams to earn points through kills, securing weapons and intel, surviving bounties, and more. The duo of Kultzy and Drewd0g took a bullet of sorts — going first and setting expectations of what was to come for the rest — but did well nonetheless. A Warzone vet, Drewd0g took CoD Mobile player Kultzy under his wing and together, they came up with 155 points all up.

Twitch chat referred to the pairing of Berticuss and Crayator as an “old married couple”, and while contact bickering and backchat made for an interesting watch, it meant the duo walked away from round one with only 180 points.

Cool, calm and collected, the duo of Taylor Morgan and Joel Bergs worked well together to take down the Chemist boss… though they actually needed to go after the newly introduced Pyro Commander. Despite that setback, the pair secured a whopping 200 points.

When the dust settled, BazzaGazza and Nalopia emerged as the victors of round one. By looting a train four times in their session, they managed to secure as many points as the second place pairing did in total. All the rest was icing on the cake; the duo earned 245 points all up, even after deductions for taking guns in the first round of action, and for adding another player to their team.

The leaderboard is by no means solidified – a second round of action starts today, 4 May, and can tip the tables in anyone’s favour.

Points in the second and final round are earned through kills, rescuing hostages, securing nuclear materials, surviving bounties, and more.

Here’s when, and where, you can watch the four teams tackle round 2 challenges:

Already available to stream on Prime Video, Citadel stars Mason Kane (Richard Madden) and Nadia Sinh (Priyanka Chopra Jonas) as globe-trotting super-spies in an “espionage series that blends cinematic level, high-octane action with deep character stories”.

The series also features the likes of Stanley Tucci (The Devil Wears Prada), Lesley Manville (The Crown) and more. It’s executive produced by Joe & Anthony Russo (Avengers Endgame) and David Weil (Hunters).

You can get a sense of what to expect with Citadel in the trailer below.
