Australian team Mindfreak eliminates ROOM FACTORY from the Rainbow Six: Siege Invitational 2018

The Rainbow Six: Siege Invitational 2018 kicked off this week in Montreal with a $500,000 USD tournament prize pool.

Australian esports organisation Mindfreak is one of the two qualified teams to make it through from the APAC region by winning the Asia Pacific Qualifier last month. After day one of the group stage Mindfreak found themselves in trouble from being eliminated from the tournament by losing against the directly invited team from North America Rogue. Mindfreak were beat 5-1 on the map Clubhouse, then put up a great fight going 5-3 on Border, overall seeing Rogue take a 2-0 series against them.

However Mindfreak have managed to hold on with day 2 of the group stages looking much better for them. Mindfreak went up against the European qualified team ROOM FACTORY which saw Mindfreak lose the first round in overtime 6-5 on Oregon, but they went on to take the next two maps, 5-0 on Consulate, and backed it up again 5-0 on Coastline.

With Mindfreak eliminating ROOM FACTORY they now move onto the next day up against another directly invited team – the esports powerhouse organisation Team Liquid. Team Liquid also lost their matchup against Rogue overnight meaning that Mindfreak and Liquid are both one series away from elimination, with the winner going on to play at the main event this weekend.
