Australian Quake Championships to feature at PAX AUS

The Australian Quake Championships will kick off at PAX AUS 2018, organisers of the convention today confirmed alongside Bethesda.

Quake Champions’ inaugural, official Aussie comp actually kicks off this weekend on 9 September. 2v2 online qualifiers will start to decide who’ll appear at the event’s grand final, to take place on 29 October just after PAX AUS itself. The winning team will head over to Dreamhack Winter Elmia to compete for a $200,000 prize pool in late November.

“The word ‘quake’ refers to an event so massive the earth itself trembles. Australia, a historically tectonically stable region, doesn’t normally experience events on a scale the likes of which send tremors through the ground,” said Luke Lancaster, content manager, PAX AUS. “It is a true pleasure that we have the rare privilege of working with Bethesda to make the damn earth shudder with the Quake Championships at PAX AUS this October.”

PAX AUS takes place over 26-28 October at Melbourne’s Exhibition and Convention Centre. Tickets are available here.

Stevivor recently sat down with Bethesda’s Pete Hines to discuss the publisher’s foray into Esports.
