EA was the perfect publisher for Coldwood’s Unravel right from the first meeting

Sitting down with Martin Sahlin at PAX AUS, I couldn’t help but ask if he was sick of being questioned why his (rather indie) game was being published by EA.

“Yeah, I’ve heard that before,” he said a bit sarcastically. “For us, from the first meeting we had, it was ‘yeah. We’re totally going to work with these guys because this is going to be awesome.’”

Of course, it helps when a big-wig at the publisher you’re in discussions with loves your game.

“The first guy we met was Patrick Söderlund, from DICE, and he was just super-passionate, super-geniune and very much into it,” Sahlin said. “We couldn’t ask for a better champion than that.

“He’s the big shot who loves your game and has a massive organization behind him? It opens a lot of doors.”

Unravel — published by EA — will be available on Xbox One and PS4 next year.
