EA reshuffle: Maxis now under mobile division

Electronic Arts will be reshuffling its organisation, placing SimCity developer Maxis under its mobile division. Maxis Senior Vice President Lucy Bradshaw will be departing Maxis as a result.

Rachel Franklin, General Manager at Maxis, will take over as head of the developer. She’ll oversee Maxis titles including The Sims 4, but won’t be responsible for mobile offerings including The Sims FreePlay and SimCity BuildIt.

EA is reshuffling to “expand the scope of opportunity for Maxis to reach more players on PC and mobile, as well as explore cross-platform play,” EA CEO Andrew Wilson said.

“We are bringing Maxis together with our mobile teams under Samantha Ryan’s leadership,” Wilson continued. “The collaboration between these teams will help us unlock new ways for Maxis IP to connect with players wherever they want to play.”

Samantha Ryan will take on the new role of Senior Vice President, EA Mobile and Maxis. She previously held the title of Senior Vice President of EA Mobile.
