Dota 2 introduces the Dota Major Championships, combines The International with three new events

On the Dota blog, it was announced that three new marquee tournaments will be added to the Dota 2 roster, dubbed The Dota Major Championships.

Alongside the existing tournament, The International, three additional Valve-sponsored events will be hosted by third parties around the world. Teams entering these events must adhere to the limited roster trade periods throughout the year.

The blog post reads, “As fans of the game, we love watching teams compete in high stakes tournaments, but we also recognize that there is room for improvement on a more structural level. While the lack of roster stability and major focal points during the year had its advantages, it has eventually come at the cost of fan engagement and competitive stability for the players.”

More details were promised as the Fall (Spring) event draws near.
