Destiny players unhappy with balanced (unbalanced) Iron Banner multiplayer

A feedback thread on Bungie.net shows that many gamers are very displeased with Destiny’s Iron Banner multiplayer event.

Unlike normal Crucible multiplayer, which says it evens out players and their abilities to provide a fair go for everyone, the Iron Banner is meant to be brutal.

“Equip your most powerful gear,” Bungie’s page on the Iron Banner reads. “The Attack and Defense ratings for your weapons and your armor will be crucial to victory.”

One player has made a video which he says disputes this, consisting of a level 4 character decimating others with the original level 1 auto rifle given to characters at the beginning of the game.

“The level advantages are nonexistent and there is no gear benefit to my character besides aesthetics at 30,” another player wrote on the feedback thread. “It’s pretty much a let down, mostly because it feels like the regular crucible, which itself is terribly unbalanced by shotguns, fusion rifles, and auto rifles.”

Moreover, other players are angry that they’re essentially wasting time in the mode. As Iron Banner reputation points are only awarded if your team wins the match, many are reporting that gamers simply drop out of a game if they’re losing. “And, because there is no penalty for quitting a Crucible match early, it’s happening a lot,” Eurogamer says in their report.
