Destiny 2 Season of the Drifter is set to begin next week, and Bungie has today detailed what to expect in its first 90 days.
Two new game modes
From 5 March, Destiny 2 Annual Pass owners will gain access to two new modes, as follows:
- Gambit Prime: A class-based, almost competitive version of Gambit
- The Reckoning: A four-player matchmade horde-style event similar to the Blind Well or the Court of Oryx
From 8 March, a second tier of difficulty will be made available for The Reckoning; a third tier is available from 15 March. Additionally, on 12 March, Gambit Prime will get a second map called Deep Six (Titan); a third map, The Legion’s Folly (Nessus) follows on 19 MArch and a fourth, Emerald Coast (EDZ) comes on 26 March.
Finally, all maps will be available in Gambit Prime from 2 April, and players will be able to play Gambit Prime in private matches at the same time.
Three new quests
From 12 March, players gain access to two new quests; one is available to all and revolves around the Exotic Hand Cannon, Thorn, while the second is locked to Annual Pass holders and involves choosing a side between the Vanguard and the Drifter. The second is character-specific, so players with more than one character can make both choices to see how they play out.
A third quest is available from Xur from 19 March; for nine weeks following, players will engage in a story-based quest that delves into the origins of Xur’s masters, the Nine.
Arc Week and The Revelry
Finally, players will take part in something called Arc Week from 9 April and a new event called The Revelry between 16 April to 6 May, though those events haven’t been detailed as yet. We’ll keep you posted when we learn more.
Destiny 2 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4; Season of the Drifter starts up on 5 March.
