DC lets fans vote on Jason Todd’s fate (once again)

DC has launched a second poll to let readers (or in this case, potentially viewers) decide the fate of the second Robin, Jason Todd.

Todd (played by Curran Walters, above) made his first full-length appearance in DC Universe’s Titans late last week, in the episode appropriately named “Jason Todd”. His appearance meant the show had two Robins — series lead (and Aussie) Brenton Thwaites’ also uses the Robin persona.

Coinciding with Todd’s appearance, DC Universe posted a poll titled, “Poll: Should Jason Todd Live or Die?” with the subheading, “If You Could Rewrite the History of 1988’s Batman: Death in the Family Poll, Would Jason Todd Live or Die?”. At the time of writing, the poll has 71% in favour of saving Todd, with only 29% wanting the Joker to kill him off.

It’s unclear what the poll means, but it’s certainly providing DC with a look into how fans are receiving Jason Todd. Personally, I’d be happy for Todd to move onto his Red Hood persona (meaning he needs to die and be reborn), but I’d also be okay if he lives and moves on to the Arkham Knight persona that debuted in Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight.

Regardless of Todd’s fate, Thwaites’ Grayson hinted at the appearance of Nightwing in the same Titans episode, so let’s hope he leaves the Robin costume behind soon.

Neither Batman (nor Joker) are expected to make an appearance in Titans‘ first season, so Todd’s unlikely to meet his (on-screen) demise at the hand of the Joker, a crowbar and some dynamite.

Titans airs on DC’s DC Universe streaming service in the USA.
