Cyberpunk 2077 has a shorter campaign because of The Witcher 3

Cyberpunk 2077 will have a shorter campaign because most of us didn’t finish the main questline of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red has recently confirmed.

“We do know that the main story run in Cyberpunk 2077 is slightly shorter than The Witcher 3 because we got a lot of complaints about Witcher 3’s main story just being too long,” Senior Quest Designer Patrick K Milles recently divulged on the most recent Night City livestream.

“Looking at the metrics, you see tremendous numbers of people played through that game really far, but never made it to the end. We want you to see the full story, so we did shorten the main story, but we have lots to do, and in terms of a completionist campaign, I just don’t have that number.”

We’re still expecting that people will be able to sink triple-digit hours into the game, so there’s no real need for concern.

Cyberpunk 2077 heads to Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 19 November, with a Stadia launch planned (where available) in 2020. The title will head to Xbox Series X and PS5 in 2021, though will be backwards compatible on both consoles from their respective launches.
