Control AWE screenshots, gameplay more mysterious than ever

Control AWE was shown off overnight and we’ve got both gameplay and screenshots to share with those Aussies who couldn’t drag themselves out of bed at 2.00 am overnight to watch live.

If you want to check out the first 15 minutes (or so) of gameplay from AWE, you can head over to Remedy Games’ Twitch livestream recording right here. The action kicks off around the 15-minute mark, though be aware that some of the content presented has been cut for time or to preserve surprises for players.

“AWE stands for ‘Altered World Events’, although all of you out there have come up with some great alternatives of what it could stand for, like ‘Alan Wake Experience’,” Remedy’s Sam Lake said, introducing the gameplay. “Altered World Events are events where paranatural forces breach our world, and there can be terrifying consequences. In the aftermath of the Bright Falls AWE, Alan Wake was trapped in this nightmarish dimension called The Dark Place. Now, in AWE DLC, you’ll be finding more about that.”

A YouTube video will be uploaded to Remedy’s channel in time; when that’s available, we’ll embed it here.

The AWE screenshots provided don’t feature Alan Wake at all, even though it’s been confirmed this DLC is the first entry in the Remedy Connected Universe. Instead, they show off the Federal Bureau of Control’s Director Jesse Faden clad in a cool new costume. They’re below.

Control is currently available on Windows PC via Epic Games Store, Xbox One and PS4. AWE heads to those platforms — and also launches the game on Windows PC via Steam — on 27 August. A next-gen upgrade path on both PS5 and Xbox Series X will become available for purchase in September.
