Black Tusk Studios gets renamed, pigeon-holed as Gears of War studio

Rod Fergusson, head of the studio formerly known as Black Tusk Studios, announced on Xbox Wire today that the studio has been renamed to The Coalition.

Fergusson states that with this rebranding they want to become to Gears of War what 343 Industries are to Halo. It is certainly a long way from their initial acquisition by Microsoft, where they were working on an original property. Now they are not only known as the “Gears of War” studio, they are named after the Gears of War “Coalition of Governments” or COG. Let’s hope they have a little more luck with Gears than 343 has had with Halo so far.

The Coalition are working on a Gears of War project that will be officially unveiled at the Microsoft E3 press briefing.
