The Black Ops games are the most played of the Call of Duty series, according to Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg in a call to investors. The two games total over 100 million players combined.
Treyarch’s Black Ops games hold a special place for many players as the pinnacle of multiplayer in the series, as well as offering an interesting take on the single player Call of Duty formula. Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is the next game in the series, the first of Treyarch’s games on a three year development cycle.
There will be a Black Ops 3 beta in the future, the first of the series in several years, and the game will be released 6 November for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Last generation consoles have not yet been confirmed.
