Bethesda’s Pete Hines has taken to Twitter to explain why those who own The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on PC will get its new, remastered Special Edition for free, while who own the title on Xbox 360 and PS3 will not.

we're making a game available for Xbox one and PS4. It already exists on PC, with high res textures.

because it's for a new platform. Just like any other remaster for new platforms.

so we are done debating why it isn't free and moving on to the price?

Any questions?
