Battlefield 2042 update adds in-game voice chat

Rejoice!

An coming Battlefield 2042 update will finally bring in-game voice chat into the multiplayer shooter.

Due tomorrow here in Australia (so 20 April), the update “brings VoIP functionality for Party and Squads,” according to developer DICE.

Players will be able to change between two in-game voice channels: Party and Squad. Battlefield 2042‘s Squads are four-player affairs, so you’re still going to struggle talking with other players on your side. Hopefully proximity chat is added in future?

The update will also bring a change to the End of Round display that shows the game’s scoreboard and a host of other bug fixes and changes.

Battlefield 2042 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5.
