Ubisoft is working with Valve to stop the panic.
Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD Steam owners will not lose access to the game if they’ve already purchased it ahead of 1 September, Ubisoft has confirmed.
A statement on Steam caused panic over the internet in the last few days, and rightfully so. A new banner declared, “Please note this title will not be accessible following September 1st, 2022”.
Ubisoft is making a precedent on Steam as Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD will not be accessible following September 1st, 2022. Even if you already bought it, a bar new low for consumers. pic.twitter.com/hRmmb2yM3w

Wait, what? Ubisoft is actually removing *access* to a game from people who already bought it?
Pirate. The Shit. Out. Of. Ubisoft.
Also this doubly sucks because Liberation is legitimately the best Assassin's Creed game and I'm sick of publishers just trashing art like this. https://t.co/dMaCXoeBKN

Speaking with Eurogamer, Ubisoft clarified the situation.
“Current owners of those games will still be able to access, play or redownload them,” following that 1 September deadline, the publisher advised. “Those games” refers to a number of titles that Ubisoft has just advised will lose online services support come September.
Again speaking with Eurogamer, Ubisoft said it will work with Valve and other retailers to recitify messaging.
“It has always been our intention to do everything in our power to allow those legacy titles to remain available in the best possible conditions for players, and this is what we are working towards,” Ubisoft continued.
