Alone in the Dark delayed to make room for Alan Wake 2

A wise choice.

The Alone in the Dark reboot has been delayed out of October and the shadow of the juggernaut Alan Wake 2.

Horror games thrive on the eerie embrace of solitude, something that is impossible to achieve in a gaming month as busy as October,” developer Pieces Interactive said in a statement.

“To ensure a breathtaking experience for everyone, we have made the decision to move the release of Alone In The Dark to January 16, 2024.”

It’s a wise decision — in addition to direct competition from Remedy’s long awaited Alan Wake 2, October is jam-packed with releases including Spider-Man 2Forza Motorsport, Super Mario Bros Wonder and many more. We also played through a separate Alone in the Dark experience earlier this year and found is was pretty lacklustre; hopefully the time is being used to polish up what is to follow.

Featuring Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) and David Harbour (Stranger Things), we can now expect Alone in the Dark from 16 January 2024 on Windows PC via Steam, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5.
