Esports to be broadcast live on American cable television station Turner Broadcasting

Turner Broadcasting, a subsidiary of Time Warner, has announced a prime time television slot dedicated to Esports on its channel TBS. Counter Strike: Global Offensive will have a Friday night slot airing a 10 week tournament for an as yet unnamed gaming series.

The tournament will feature regular season games, playoffs and a championship match with prize money awarded to competing teams. There’s potential for the roster of games to expand too with both Halo 5 and Call of Duty developers announcing intentions to increase their esport presence.

These kind of cash injections are always great for Esports in terms of coverage and player support, but whether the TV spot succeeds will remain to be seen. No starting date for the tournament has yet been announced but more details are expected soon.
