3D Realms and Gearbox settle their Duke Nukem lawsuit

Gearbox Software, 3D Realms and Interceptor Entertainment have today released a joint statement declaring they “have voluntarily ended all litigation between them”. Details on any potential settlement have been kept confidential beyond Gearbox taking complete ownership of the Duke Nukem intellectual property.

You can read the full statement here, but it doesn’t contain a lot more information that what is stated above. All three companies like each other again and are very happy for each other, while any juicy details on how the matter what settled remain secret. What it does mean is that Gearbox can continue the Duke Nukem franchise should they wish, though after Duke Nukem Forever it is hard to imagine a place for Duke in the gaming landscape, at least in the near future.
