The Devil in Me guide: How to save Kate and Erin

And obtain The Devil in Me's Ignited Achievement or Trophy along the way.

I struggled to figure out what to title this post without ruining anything, but let’s face it: The Devil in Me has been promoted by Supermassive and Bandai Namco using the very same image you see above. With that in mind, why beat around the bush? This guide will tell you how you can save both Kate and Erin from the murder trap you’re presented with.

Needless to say, spoilers follow — read at your own risk.

In the checkpoint Breathless, both Kate and Erin rather stupidly run into mirrored rooms. As you quickly find out, you’ll have to decide which room to oxygenate, thereby killing whoever’s in the room without. Or, as the game puts it: do you kill Erin, or kill Kate?

The answer is kind of lame. Through trial and error, players will learn that Kate’s room isn’t fully sealed, so some air is able to remain in her room; therefore, choosing to “kill” Kate will keep Erin alive and buy you time to — through a cutscene — intervene to also save Kate.

Choosing to kill Erin will do just that — kill Erin — while making no choice will keep Kate alive (see above) but still kill Erin. Choosing to kill Kate is your own choice to keep both alive. Doing so will also earn you the Ignited Achievement or Trophy for your effort.
