Marvel: Ultimate Alliance pricing is inflated on different platforms in different regions

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance prices on the Australian Xbox Store today contradict those given to Stevivor by an Activision representative yesterday.

The store lists Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Ultimate Alliance 2 for $59.95 AUD each, or in a bundle for $99.95 AUD.

We were told yesterday that pricing was set at $49.95 AUD individually, or $69.95 AUD for both.

We’ve asked Activision (and now, Microsoft) for comment.

Update: Prices on the PlayStation Store seem to match the advice given to us yesterday by Activision, so this may be a problem with Microsoft’s platform.

Thanks, Steve Drew and Josh!

Update 2: Microsoft’s Xbox Business Lead for Australia, Jeremy Hinton, has taken to Twitter to explain it’s an issue on Activision’s side:

Update 3: Activision has yet to come back to Stevivor with comment. Sadly — and after days of silence — it’s looking as if this inflated pricing is intentional.

Canadian reader Stuart points out that Canadian pricing mirrors Australian, with the Xbox One version of the game coming in at a higher price point. Stuart has informed us that the two-game Ultimate Alliance is priced at $59.99 CDN on PS4 and $79.99 CDN on PC and Xbox One.
