Nintendo has recently filed a patent that revolves around a “stationary game console” that will operate without disc-based storage.
The patent continues to explain a console that will work with only hard disk drives and external cards for storage, meaning its games would essentially be all-digital, all-downloaded.
The patent leads many to believe that Nintendo is laying the groundwork for their upcoming NX console. Of course, all of this is speculation — we’ll find out more about the NX when Nintendo offers it up.
Thanks, NeoGAF.
