Last week, the Australian Video Game Classifications twitter account tweeted that the Australian Classification Board had classified Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – Game of the Year Edition. Does this mean we’ll see a re-release of one of last year’s best games at some point in 2015? Probably.
While in and of itself a classification is not confirmation of a re-release it at least tells us that Warner Bros. applied for it. Generally a Game of the Year edition will include the original game and all post-launch content. In Shadow of Mordor’s case that includes some skins, an arena mode, two new story based campaigns and more.
MIDDLE EARTH: SHADOW OF MORDOR GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION,
Rating: MA15+,
Author: @MonolithDev,
Publisher: Warner Brothers— AusVGClassifications (@AusVGClass) March 25, 2015
While 2015 is already shaping up to eclipse 2014 in terms of remakes and re-releases at least a Game of the Year edition isn’t quite as egregious as some re-releases.
Would you buy a GOTY edition of Shadow of Mordor?
