Microsoft: From banning GLBTI gamertags to sponsoring GaymerCon

What a welcome change from Microsoft. It seems like only yesterday (okay, it was 2009) when we were reporting on Microsoft banning gay and lesbian gamertags from Xbox Live. Now, they’re a proud sponsor of the upcoming GaymerCon.

A backlash against the gamertag banning in 2009 brought a quick apology from Microsoft, and a change to their policies and practices.

This latest move cements Microsoft’s stance as a gay-friendly corporation, and we’re all for it. Good work, guys!

GaymerCon takes place over 3 and 4 August 2013 in San Francisco.
