Overwatch‘s latest webcomic, in which — spoilers — Tracer is outed as the franchise’s first queer character, has been blocked from view in Russia.
The comic has been removed from view in the country in accordance with its Purpose of Protecting Children from Information Advocating for a Denial of Traditional Family Values act, otherwise known as its gay propaganda law.
As the relationship between hero Tracer and girlfriend Emily is portrayed as a positive one, the Russian government has deemed it in appropriate for its citizens. Users that try to view the comic in Russia are greeted with a pop-up that reads, “In accordance with Russian law we cannot share this comic with our players on territory of Russian Federation”.
Overwatch is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4.
