Capcom registers Umbrella Corps in both Europe and Japan

Capcom has been busy registering Umbrella Corps in Europe last week sending people in a frenzy wondering if it was indeed related to Resident Evil. Now it seems confirmed with a trademark registering by the publisher being lodged in Japan for Biohazard Umbrella Corps.

For the very uninitiated, Biohazard is the name of Resident Evil in its native Japan. Capcom has previously used the Umbrella name in it’s on-rails shooter for Wii Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. Players also got to play as Umbrella mercenaries in Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, but the less said about that, probably the better.

While we remain hopeful that Capcom will soon announce Resident Evil 7 (and hopefully a return to the series’ horror roots) at least there is some work being done on the franchise. While the trademark registrations reveal nothing about the title it appears to be most definitely related to Resident Evil. How? We’ll just have to wait.

Resident Evil Zero HD will be available for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2016.
