Windows 10 PC Cuphead save glitch is killing progress

A Windows 10 PC Cuphead save glitch is destroying users’ progress in a nasty, nasty way.

Users are swarming Reddit complaining of deleted saves upon exiting CupheadThe glitch appears exclusive to the Windows 10 PC version of Cuphead, even though the Xbox Play Anywhere title is cross-play and cross-save between PC and Xbox One.

“I preloaded the game prior to release through the Windows Store, and successfully installed the game yesterday,” one Redditor wrote. “Since then, any time I exit the game, I seem to lose a good chunk of progress. … I’m constantly losing about 10% of my progress every time I exit the game. It’s a broken mess, and for such a difficult game it’s extremely frustrating.”

Thankfully, developer Studio MDHR is aware of the issue and is working to correct it.

“There is a temporary workaround, which is to avoid using ALT-Tab to leave the game for any amount of time,” a Studio MDHR representative advised. “Apparently it disconnects the game from being able to save any further progress. Hopefully knowing that, you can avoid this issue until we are able to send a patch.”

There you have it, PC players — once you start playing, keep playing.

We’ll have more on the issue as it’s made available.

Cuphead is available now on Windows PC and Xbox One. We reviewed it here.
