Tekken director Harada confirms Tekken X Street Fighter lives

Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada has confirmed that work on Tekken X Street Fighter is continuing. In an interview with Polygon, Harada confirms that 40 people are working on the project but admits “It’s very difficult to talk about” and cannot give a timeframe for release.

Tekken X Street Fighter is the second game in a blockbuster combination of the king of 2D fighting games in Street Fighter and one of most popular 3D fighting series in Tekken. The first release, Street Fighter X Tekken, focused on building from the Street Fighter mechanics, and was released in 2012 to lukewarm response. Tekken X Street Fighter was always the more ambitious of the crossovers, the closest Street Fighter has been to a 3D fighting game was the Street Fighter EX series back in the late 90’s and many were curious as to how they would integrate Street Fighter into the 3D, combo heavy engine of Tekken.

At least it is confirmed that Tekken X Street Fighter is not vapourware. While it may be a long way from release, the project lives.
