Sega of America employees file to form union

Another one? Another one.

Sega of America employees have filed to form a union, The Verge first reported.

A “supermajority” of 144 employees from Sega of America’s QA, live service, localisation, marketing and product development departments joined together to make the filing, and are largely based in Irvine, California.

The sheer number of employees represented means the union is one of the largest multi-department video game unions within the USA.

“We believe that the passionate, hardworking people at our Irvine offices deserve a say in our working conditions, and we are joining together to advocate for change in our workplace,” the union wrote on Twitter. “This is our vision for the path forward.”

Speaking with The Verge, members of the union said they are “hopeful that Sega of America and its Japanese parent company will voluntarily recognize the union.”

We’ll keep you informed as we learn more of the new union.
