Riot Games announces the Oceanic University Championship

Support for the local Esports scene just keeps on growing with Riot Games today announcing the Oceanic University Championship to take place throughout August.

The Oceanic University Championship is a League of Legends tournament that will pit representatives from all Australian states and territories plus New Zealand against each other for a share of some pretty neat prizes.

The tournament begins with a round robin to decide which University will represent each state/territory/country before making the victors duke it out in a group stage to find the top two Oceanic teams. The team that finishes the top of each group will be flown to Riot HQ in Sydney to compete in a best of 5 match on LAN to decide who is the University champion.

There are of course plenty of prizes with all 9 regional representatives taking home some swag regardless of their finish. The whole event is sponsored by Razer, with the winners taking home some Razer gear as well as a Pulsefire Ezreal statue.

You can register your University team here or just head to this announcement post here for all the details.
