PS5 controller outed as DualShock 5 by PlayStation France

PlayStation France took to its website to name the PS5 controller as the DualShock 5, at the same time confirming the peripheral will be compatible with the PS4.

The PlayStation France website outed the name of the controller — and let’s face it, the name is as predictable as the PS5’s logo is — in a compatibility table over the weekend. The table in question has since been changed to remove all references of the next-gen controller.

We’ve only seen passing glances at the DualShock 5 to date, but a series of patents suggest it will drop the light bar functionality currently expierenced on the DualShock 4.

We’ll have more on the PS5 as it’s made available. We’ve asked Sony for comment.
