Pokémon Go Water Festival increases Magikarp, Squirtle and other Water-type spawns

The chances of finding Water-types in Pokémon Go has greatly increased thanks to its Water Festival event.

“Trainers will also have a greater chance of encountering Water-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region, which recently began appearing in the game, when exploring areas where Water-type Pokémon more commonly appear,” Niantic said of the event.

For the next week or so, the odds of finding Water-types such as Magikarp, Squirtle and Totodile are greatly increased. Their evolutions will also have a greater chance to spawn.

Also available as part of the event is a new Magikarp hat to your in-game trainer.

The Pokémon Go Water Festival event is on now and ends 30 March on both iOS and Android devices.
