League of Legends Championship Series gets rule changes and a reworked preview show ahead of spring event

Change is coming to the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) in 2015 with Riot releasing the latest updates they’ve made to the official LCS rule set. You can read them in full here but the biggest changes to note are to the Peripheral Policy and Poaching and Tampering.

The keyboards and mice used by players must now be left at the LCS studio between games in an effort to ensure “competitive integrity”. This could cause problems with players no longer being able to use their favourite worn-in gear but Riot have made allowances to ensure that players are as comfortable as possible.

The change to the Poaching and Tampering rule aims to ensure clarity in trades between LCS teams. Riot now require the management of both teams to include them directly in trade chatter, whether it be via an email CC or in person. Several other changes are hitting the rule set too including the requirement of matching uniforms for teams, substitute players and external sponsorships.

The LCS Preview Show has been reborn for 2015 in the shape of PrimeTime League. The show now covers all of Riots official leagues worldwide rather than just focusing on North America and Europe. Many of the old segments will be returning plus some new ones to suit the new format. PrimeTime League begins this Wednesday 21 January at 3 pm PST (that’s 10 am 22 January here in Australia).
