Death Stranding Director’s Cut PS4 to PS5 upgrade costs $20 AUD

Yikes.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut is now available, and Australians have woken up to find it costs $20 AUD to upgrade the title from its PS4 to PS5 iteration.

Director’s Cut is an upgraded version of the PS4 original, complete with new bells and whistles.

Returning players can expect new missions, new equipment, a new racing mode, new video modes and DualSense support. Moreover, Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions have removed Monster energy drink from the game… though protagonist Sam will still need to swill generic energy drink to replenish stamina. We hear water works well too.

The $20 AUD upgrade cost seems a little steep to us, especially when Sony has recently come out to cancel a planned $10 AUD PS4 to PS5 upgrade for Horizon Forbidden WestAs part of the same announcement, Sony said any cross-generation first-party games beyond Forbidden West would come with a $10 AUD upgrade free.

Our Death Stranding review has taken a look at the game on PS4 and Windows PC.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut is available now on PS5; Death Stranding is also available on PS4 and Windows PC.
