Following on from the news yesterday that Mortal Kombat X was issued an R18+ classification from the Australian Classification Board, a representative from Warner Bros. today confirmed that the decision was made on an unedited version of the game.
This means that the Australian version of Mortal Kombat X will match that of, say, North America. In other words: you need not go overseas to buy a ‘pristine’ version.
The last game in the Mortal Kombat franchise, known as Mortal Kombat or Mortal Kombat 9, was originally refused classification in Australia, though it was released before the R18+ classification was put in place. The game was later released under the R18+ classification as Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition. Despite this, our first preview of MKX at E3 last year had us worried about the title’s fate.
