Project (Near) Space winning spacesuit design announced

A few weeks ago we brought you the news that Sony Australia were holding a competition to design a space suit to be work by Sackboy on his journey to (near) space. Yesterday, Sony announced that the winning design had been selected. Facing stiff competition from over 100 designs, Tom Fox from Queensland’s design was selected and has already been put into production.

On learning of his win Fox said “WOW! I am absolutely stoked about this! I hope Sackboy comes home safely – he’s so brave!”. The PlayStation team were won over by Fox’s attention to detail and practicalities of his “Sacksuit” for (near) space travel. The suit will now be immortalised in LittleBigPlanet history.

Fan involvement in this little big adventure is not over yet however. The second phase of Project (Near) Space is now live on the PlayStation Australia Facebook page. Head over to the page now and place your pin on the map of New South Wales to predict where Sackboy will land based on the clues and hints provided by PlayStation Australia. The closest to Sackboy’s actual landing spot will win a LittleBigPlanet prize pack of their choice.

LittleBigPlanet PS Vita is available now.

LittleBigPlanet Karting will be available for PS3 8 November.

What are you waiting for? Head on over to the PlayStation Australia Facebook page and start following the clues.
