Uncharted 4’s multiplayer will include microtransactions but all items can be unlocked with in-game currency

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End’s Lead Multiplayer Designer Robert Cogburn has revealed during Paris Games Week that the title will include microtransactions at launch.

When quizzed by GameSpot about the title’s in-game currency and whether that means microtransactions will be introduced. Cogburn replied, “”Microtransactions will be available at launch, but we’ll have no gameplay items that will be gated through microtransactions.”

Uncharted 4’s multiplayer will include tools, weapons and upgrades with the in-game currency, but will be able to speed this process up buy purchasing in-game currency with real world money. The beta will serve as a basis for Naughty Dog attempting to get the right balance between grinding and spending real world cash, Cogurn added.

The multiplayer portion of Uncharted 4 will run at 900p and 60fps as opposed to the campaign’s 1080p and 30fps. Cogburn says this is because a smooth and fast experience is imperative in multiplayer.

The multiplayer beta will run between 4 and 14 December.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be available exclusively for PS4 from 18 March 2016.
