Microsoft reportedly acquiring Obsidian Entertainment

Microsoft is looking to acquire Fallout New Vegas developer Obsidian Entertainment, a new report suggests.

The report comes from Kotaku, which says multiple sources assert that the acquisition is “a matter of when, not if.”

Obsidian itself is keeping quiet for the time being.

“Unfortunately, we don’t comment on rumors or speculation other than to say that the Rumors album by Fleetwood Mac still holds up,” Obsidian’s Mikey Dowling said in a statement.

At E3 2018, Microsoft confirmed it had acquired a number of third-party developers including Undead Labs, Playground Games, Ninja Theory and Compulsion Games alongside the creation of a new studio, The Initiative.

We’ll have more on the potential Microsoft acquisition of Obsidian as news it’s made available.
