Gears of War getting Master Chief Collection treatment: report

Fancy a playthrough of a bunch of old Gears games?

Gears of War is reportedly the next big Microsoft franchise to receive the Master Chief Collection treatment, one that could bundle a series of old Gears games for new players.

Xbox Era’s Nick Baker has made the claim, speaking on a podcast without divulging his sources.

“A while back I said there is another Microsoft franchise that’s getting the Master Chief Collection-type treatment,” Baker said. “I am of the belief that that is coming this year.

The latest title in the core Gears franchise was 2019’s Gears 5, which we reviewed favourably here. The original Gears of War launched in 2006 and as followed up by a remaster, Gears of War Ultimate Edition, in 2015. Sequels include 2008’s Gears of War 2, 2011’s Gears of War 3 and 2013’s side story Gears of War Judgment.
