Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 & 6 changes include ping system, more

Rainbow Six Siege Year 5 & 6 plans were today detailed by Ubisoft and include a number of changes and additions to the existing formula.

“For the future, the focus is on the core gameplay of Siege, fundamental elements that have a direct impact on every player,” Ubisoft said, confirming that changes will be made that encourage player investment and agency.

One change will be the introduction of a “smart ping system” alongside secondary gadgets and more. Ubisoft told Stevivor back in March 2019 that it was looking into the ping system, one that clearly looks to capture the experience found within Apex Legends.

Moreover, Ubisoft confirmed that it will be reworking Operations in an attempt to “affect how Operators are utilized and redefine their entire gameplay.”

Tachanka will be the first Operator to be completely reworked in Year 5. Other reworks will follow in upcoming seasons. and others will follow in the upcoming seasons.

Finally, Ubisoft confirmed that it will introduce a map ban “to offer players a better control on the map they will play” alongside a reputation system “where players are rewarded or sanctioned based on their behaviors in-game.” These changes are expected sometime in Year 5 or 6.

Rainbow Six Siege is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4; its next big content update, Operation Void Edge, was announced over the weekend.
