Rage 2 loot boxes aren’t a thing, says id Software

Rage 2 will not have loot boxes, id Software’s Tim Willits has confirmed.

Willits made the confirmation with German publication GameStar.

“We will not have any loot boxes, I can say for sure,” Willits said (via Google Translate). “We have this novel approach: You buy the game and then you play it.”

Willits said id wants “people to play Rage 2 longer,” but didn’t specify how.

It’s been a crazy ride with Rage 2 — the title was first leaked by a Walmart Canada listing before Bethesda doubled-down and confirmed the game with a special trailer. A day later, a gameplay trailer was also released.

Rage 2 will be further detailed at Bethesda’s E3 2018 press conference.
