No Man’s Sky: How to make money, fast

No Man’s Sky is about entrepreneurship almost as much as it is exploration and mining. Here’s how to make in-game cash, called Units, quickest.

Discover everything

You probably realise that systems, planets and waypoints can be discovered and then turned in for Units. But did you know that a planet’s flora, fauna and indigenous species can be scanned too?

If you are next to an animal, a plant or a weird looking rock, hit L2 to scan it. Once your scan is complete, you’ve got another thing to discover and turn in for cash. Enjoy!

Turn plutonium and iron into Bypass Chips — then sell them

Trading is a surefire way to make money. Rather than just selling off minerals, though, craft them into other, profit-heavy materials.

The best example is plutonium and iron. They’re abundant on every single world we’ve travelled to. Together, they can be made into Bypass Chips, which can be sold for tens of times more money than the minerals themselves, depending on the trader you roll.

Simple, yet effective.
